How do you see Leicester?
The Leicester Citizen Sketchbook aims to showcase Leicester's inhabitants' views of the city and others who live in it.
The Leicester Citizen Sketchbook aims to showcase Leicester's inhabitants' views of the city and others who live in it.
The Leicester Citizen Sketchbook project will create the first and largest library of anonymous sketches and views from every corner of Leicester, as part of the city’s most ambitious citizen science project to date. The project changes the way people share their outlook on Leicester, share their experiences with others, while also creating a community resource and snapshot at one point in time. By filling a sketchbook, you are joining the movement, adding your voice, and becoming part of something huge. This year there are 2,500 free sketchbooks being circulated to Leicester citizens throughout October, and in future years, we hope to produce thousands of items, open to the public to view and use, and which will produce an annual snapshot of life in Leicester. We encourage you to draw, write, collage, cut, print, photograph - anything that you believe helps to tell your story and to put Leicester on the map.
Below, you can find a list of places where sketchbooks can be picked up and dropped off, as well as a list of the events which we are organizing, including free sketchbook workshops.
